I have finally graduated high school. To be more accurate, I graduated 23 days ago on May 14, 2011. I thought I’d recap on this new chapter in my life and start at the very beginning for you.
Graduation. Man, I loved those shoes. Here’s a picture of my ruby reds that were completely worth the blisters and swollen feet.
I was thankful for 2 things on that day. 1) That I went to Sedgwick (a class of 50) and 2) for technology. I was the valedictorian, which meant I had to give a speech. But, thankfully I live in this day and age and the other two valedictorians and I were able to put a video together, which took the place of a slow death (aka a speech). The video turned out pretty darn good. Although I had my face in my palms the entire time it played. I want to clear some things up, though, about being one of the Three valedictorians. Don’t get me wrong, I am VERY happy for the title and the scholarships I received, but… I feel a little guilty. Like I didn’t work as hard as many students at other schools would have to. I asked for extra credit from my teachers, memorized information and forgot it after the test, got together with classmates and did homework that I didn’t understand. I know it’s hard to believe that I’m probably not the next Albert Einstein, but I honestly just made all As and got by with that, I wish I would have worked harder at remembering a lot of that information. I will admit, it was pretty fun going up on stage and receiving my huge medal, though. All in all, graduation was a great day. I had a party afterwards and it was perfect. What a blessing it was to see all of my friends and family. I felt so loved and happy that day. I was completely amazed at how giving everyone was as well. I definitely hit the jackpot. Which reminds me, I have a ton of thank you letters to finish (I promise I haven’t forgotten you!). Anyways, that day was awesome.
The first week I was out of school, I did some good ole growing up. And now, I am basically as wise as any adult. (haha :D) My first week out of high school I got a job, got another job, quit my old job, got my first paycheck, put a deposit down for an apartment, and lost a lot of sleep. I will admit I had quite a few tears that week and quite a few ‘this is the real world’ moments, but one big lesson I learned that week: You have to do what makes you feel at peace, with God leading you.
Welp, that’s it for now folks. I promise to keep this blog updated! Stay tuned :)
